A thirteen year-old Sudanese rebel soldier showing results of failed traditional therapy for dracunculiasis (guinea worm infection). The worm was broken during attempted extraction, producing a linear abcess along the worm's tract. The abcess was successfully treated with oral chloramphenicol. (Also, see Case 4).
